Growing Confidence Together: A Conversation with Lily, Ava & Binny

Confidence starts young, and often begins with the people around us. In this interview, we sit down with Lily and Ava, along with their mum Binny, to talk about friendship, self belief, and growing up in a world full of pressure and expectations.
From hyping each other up on the netball court to learning the importance of positive self talk at home, this conversation is a real and honest look at what confidence means for today’s teens, and how the right support, both from friends and family, can make all the difference.
We also explore how simple, age appropriate routines like skincare can play a role in helping young girls feel comfortable, confident, and empowered in their own skin.
LILY
1. When do you feel you’re most confident and who are you usually with?
I feel most confident when I’m playing netball, especially when I’m with my friends. We always hype each other up, cheer each other on, and get so excited when someone is playing well, which makes me feel really happy and confident.
2. How do you hype your friends up when they’re not feeling their best?
I always remind my friends how amazing they are and tell them not to be too hard on themselves. If they’re upset after a test or exam, I remind them they did their best and that they’re awesome no matter what.
3. What’s something your friends do that instantly boosts your confidence?
When my friends cheer me on at netball or tell me I played well, it instantly boosts my confidence. I also love when they compliment me on little things, like my outfit, it always makes me feel good.
4. Would you use our skincare and why?
Yes, I would definitely use Glow & Go skincare. I love that it’s made especially for teens, so it’s age appropriate and perfect for my routine. The packaging is also super cute, and I’m especially excited to try the Glow Face Mist and the Bubble Glow Face Cream.
AVA
1. What makes you feel really confident in your friendships?
I feel most confident in my friendships knowing my friends always have my back. I love that we can have fun together while also feeling supported and confident in ourselves.
2. How do you hype your friends up or make them feel good about themselves?
I always make sure my friends know when they look good or have done something different with their hair or makeup. I love complimenting them and helping them feel confident.
3. Have your friends ever helped you feel more confident? How?
Yes, they have. Whenever I’m not feeling confident, they lift me up by complimenting me and reminding me of the things I do well, which really helps.
4. Would you use our skincare? Are there any products you’d like to see that we don’t have?
Yes, I would definitely use the skincare. I’d also love to see products like serums and breakout creams, as I think those would be really helpful additions to a teen skincare routine.
BINNY
1. What do you love about seeing your girls hype each other up and grow in confidence?
I love seeing them be each other’s biggest cheerleaders. At 16 and 14, they’re at such an important age where confidence can go up and down, so watching them encourage and genuinely celebrate each other is really special. As their mum, there’s nothing better than seeing them feel comfortable in themselves and grow into confident young girls who know their worth.
2. Why is positive self talk at this age so important to you as a mum?
The teenage years can be a vulnerable time, and the way our girls speak to themselves really matters. Positive self talk helps build confidence, resilience, and self worth, especially with pressures from school, sport, friendships, and social media. I want my girls to be kind to themselves, believe in themselves, and know that confidence starts from within.
3. What do you like about Glow & Go Next Gen in terms of price and age appropriate products?
What I love about Glow & Go Next Gen is that it’s designed with younger girls in mind. The products are age appropriate, simple, and not overwhelming, which is exactly what I want for my daughters. The price point is also really reasonable, especially as a mum buying for two girls, making good skincare accessible without spending a fortune.
4. Would you feel comfortable letting your girls use our skincare and why?
Yes, absolutely. I feel comfortable because it’s designed specifically for younger skin, which is really important to me. At 14 and 16, I want them to use products that are gentle, suitable for their age, and focused on healthy skincare habits rather than harsh ingredients. I love the idea of them learning to care for their skin in a simple, positive way that also builds confidence.
